Photoshop Tutorial Exercise | Part 17: In this episode we will do some exercise such as Smooth tanned skin, smoothing skin, thermal photo effect, and text burst text effect.

Smooth Tanned Skin:

Smooth Tanned Skin
  • Open the required image.
  • Duplicate the layer (Ctrl + J).
  • Filter -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur.
  • Set radius=5 or according to your requirement.
  • Click on the OK button.
  • Change the blend mode of the layer to Overlay.

Smoothening Skin:

Smoothening Skin:
  • Open the required image.
  • Now remove the blemishes or other spots using Spot Healing Brush Tool or other required tools.
  • Duplicate the layer (Ctrl + J).
  • Filter -> Blur -> Smart Blur.
    Radius=3
    Threshold=25
    Quality=low
    Mode=Normal
    or according to your requirement
  • Click on the OK button.
  • Change the opacity of the layer to 45% or else.
  • Now click on Add Layer Mask from the Layers palette.
  • Then paint on the lips, teeth, eyes, eyebrows using the brush tool.

Thermal Photo Effect:

  • Open the required image.
  • Image -> Adjustment -> Hue/Saturation.
  • Click on colorize.
  • Set
    Hue=200
    Saturation=33
    Lightness=3
    and click on OK button
  • Duplicate the layer.
  • Filter -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur.
  • Radius=1.6 and click on the OK button.
  • Set the layer blending mode to overlay.
  • Merge the layers by pressing Ctrl + Shift + E.
  • Filter -> Blur -> Motion Blur
  • Set
    Angle=900
    Distance=55
  • Change the blending mode to overlay and merge all the layers.
  • Create a new layer and fill it with white color.
  • Change the blending mode to overlay.
  • Set foreground color=000099 & Background color=FFFFFF
  • Create a new layer and fill with the foreground color.
  • Filter -> Render -> Clouds.
  • Blending=overlay & opacity=57.
  • Create a new layer and fill it with white blending mode Difference.
  • In the Final step duplicate your background layer. Move this layer to second from the top under the white layer and set the layer mixing mode to darken.

Light Burst Text Effect:

Light Burst Text Effect
  • Write the required text using the Impact font. For e. g. LIGHT.
  • Layer -> Rasterize -> Type.
  • Filter -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur.
  • Set radius=4 and click on the Ok button.
  • Edit menu -> fill.
  • Use=white
    mode=multiply
  • Filter -> Stylize -> Solarize.
  • Press Ctrl + Shift + L.
  • Press Ctrl + J.
  • Filter -> Distort -> Polar Coordinates.
  • Choose polar to rectangular option and click on the OK button.
  • Image -> Rotate Canvas -> 900 CW.
  • Filter -> Stylize -> Wind.
  • Method=wind
  • Direction=from the right and click on the OK button.
  • Press Ctrl + F for 2 or 3 times.
  • Image -> Rotate canvas -> 900 CCW.
  • Filter -> Distort -> Polar to Rectangular.
  • Choose rectangular to Polar and click on the OK button.
  • Filter -> Blur -> Radial Blur.
  • Set
    Amount=50
    Method=zoom
    Quality=best and click on the OK button.
  • Change the blending mode of the layer to Screen.
  • Layer -> New Fill Layer -> Gradient.
  • Click on the OK button and set the required gradient and options.
  • Click on OK button
  • Change the color mode of the layer to color.
